After a great pre-season we couldn't wait to get our season underway. Woodham Wildcats had finished top of Division 3 last season and provided us with a very stern test.

We started brightly keeping possesion well and built up nicely from the back. The defensive trio of Ollie I , Jack J and Scott looked very comfortable on the ball and looked very solid defensively. Against the run of play Woodham scored when their striker finished smartly from a tight angle. This seemed to spur us on and we were soon level with Luke providing a neat finish following good work from Tom M down the left wing. Shortly after we took a deserved lead with a truly wonderful goal from Martin. Quick feet on the edge of the area created space for him to unleash an unstoppable drive in to the top corner. We kept driving forward with Jamie making incisive runs down the right wing and Jack P pulling  the strings in midfield. Tom H made a trademark flying save just before the interval to keep our  lead intact. We knew the second half would be more difficult playing up the slope but continued to create chances and played some excellent football.Omar snuffed out any threat down the left with his usual brilliant tackling and Tom made a fantastic save tipping a shot on to the crossbar. Woodham were level soon after following a good move and a precise shot in to the bottom corner. The game was now anyone's for the taking. Ollie H kept us driving forward on the left wing as we looked for a winner and Aaron showed us his skills on the right giving the Woodham defence a real headache. With 3 minutes left on the clock Luke got another chance and slipped the ball past their keeper to claim all three points.

Today was a brilliant team performance with lots of effort and skill which should make all the boys proud.
