We went to Notley with high hopes of getting some points. Unfortunately, we started very slowly and allowed a goal in the first 5 minutes, with some poor defending allowing an open goal opportunity. We reacted well to this set back and some very good play followed, with several chances being made. But it was some good play down the left from Ryan and a well weighted pass to put Jack in. This was the most difficult of chances, but he lobbed the keeper calmly to level the game. We were on the front foot, but just couldn't break through. Half time favoured the hosts and they put us under sustained pressure, but our defence looked tight.
Seemingly heading for a draw, we fell for some poor defending which allowed their forward to sweep in to go one up.
We didn't lie down and had 2 clear cut chances at the end to salvage a point, but it wasn't to be and we were left disappointed to not get anything from the game, but our work and effort rate was excellent.
